Mike Benonis graduated from the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science in May, 2009.  Mike is now a graduate student in the Bradley department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.  Mike’s research interests include cognitive radio, RF circuit design, and real-world limitations of software-defined radio systems.  Additionally, Mike is interested in the potential applications of cognitive radio technology in the theatrical, broadcast, and entertainment industries.

In his free time, Mike is an amateur radio operator, holding license KI4RIX.  He is active on 40m, 20m, and 2m.  Mike is also interested in amateur satellite communications and the amateur bands above the 70cm band.

Mike is also an avid patron of the theatre, and has worked in theatre for the past six years.  Mike is an experienced audio engineer who has engineered over ten shows, some using forty channels of audio with twenty-five channels of wireless microphones.
